Damien Rice at the Orpheum
On Tuesday night, Damien Rice commanded the Orpheum stage for over two hours with just a few lights, a guitar and his voice. With his shadow cascading against the walls, the mist from a constantly blowing humidifier enveloping him, Rice tore through songs from his latest album, My Favourite Faded Fantasy. Going from hushed vocalizations to all out screams, Rice kept the audience rapt for the entire time. If anyone dared speak, they were met with a harsh rebuttal from surrounding patrons. He left the audience begging for more even after the lengthy concert–let’s hope there’s not such a lengthy wait between this visit and the next.
