Sleepover Show #109: Dom

Dom has only released a pair of EPs in the last two years—last year’s Family of Love, and 2010’s Sun Bronzed Greek Gods—but their songs deserve your attention. That year, here in Boston, they were named to the Boston Phoenix’s 50 Bands/50 States list, and took home the award for Best Song at the Boston Music Awards for Living in America. People always seem to mention that they don’t give last names, and just so happen to be a little more laid back than most. But none of that really matters. We were there to record some music.
We settled into—well, jammed ourselves into—the green room at Royale. With six members of the band all placed strategically around the room, we set up and started to film. The versions of the songs we captured were indeed different than what you’ll hear on their EPs, and we like it that way. The band worked out stripped down versions, swapped guitars around, and knocked them all out just in time to jump on stage for their sound check. A quick and easy show with a band we hope will release a full length album sometime soon, though we’ll gladly take an EP every couple of months.
Dom will be hitting the Brighton Music Hall in early May. Make sure to pick up your tickets for the show.
