Father John Misty: Paradise
Father John Misty stopped by the Paradise last week to perform songs off his latest release, I Love You, Honeybear. The show was dark and beautiful, filled with the melancholy notes of his last two albums and the microphone gripping, crowd enticing, non-stop dancing of Josh Tillman. “Bored in the USA” will emerge as a high mark for this year–a song that both challenges and mocks in its self-referential treatment of our lives these days. If you get a chance to see him perform, take it. There is more to this music than all the comments about beards, hipsters, and irreverence that you’ve been reading.
