Sleepover Show #121: Good Night, States

It was one of the few times that snow was on the ground in Boston this winter. We were down in Jamaica Plain, visiting a house there to film a set with Good Night, States, and we trudged through the snow on the front lawn and made our way inside. They were in town to help celebrate something of a new local tradition, a birthday concert for local music blogger Sooz—dubbed Soozapalooza. But before heading off to the event, we spent some time recording songs off their latest release, Country/Static.
The band was gathering in the living room, tuning their instruments and going over the songs they would play for us. And then they performed songs that sound almost completely different than the album versions, which we always enjoy. Violin plucks replace synthesizer, the strum of an acoustic guitar takes the place of piano, and some of the bombast of their new material finds a new home in this stripped-down session. But the harmonies remain, and as we parted ways, we were happy to have captured some beautiful material.
We hope you enjoy the videos!
