Happy Holidays from Sleepover Shows!

Posted by sleepovershows on Monday, December 12, 2011 · 2 Comments

All this week we will be bringing you some original holiday songs from some of our favorite Boston bands.  We’ve also asked each band to name a charity for you to donate to this year.  We’ve had a great year doing what we love–filming some of our favorite bands from right here in Boston as well as those coming through town.  We thought it only right to help bring some joy to others as well.

Download the whole mix at our Facebook page!

Song #6 is from The Organ Beats.  They put out this song to help the MSPCA last  year, and they ask you to do the same this year.  Find out more about them at their website.

This Christmas:

Song #5 is from Spirit Kid.  We met them in the workshop of a piano store to get this holiday tune.  They ask that you take a look into Donors Choose, a charity that helps teachers provide for their classrooms.  Find out more at their website.

It’s Christmas Time (Feelin’ Lazy):

Song #4 is from Dan Blakeslee.  Dan told us his story of finding a discarded Christmas tree out in the trash on Christmas Eve, and then he sang the story for us.  The charity he hopes you look at is White Pine Programs, who hold nature-based learning programs.  You can learn more about them at their website.

Song #3 comes from Marc Pinansky, who has released an EP each month this year!  (You should check them out).  We cannot lie, this was the first song we recorded for our holiday series that made us tear up a bit.  Marc asks that you head over to the Northeast Animal Shelter today.  Kids always like puppies for Christmas, right?  You can adopt one, or donate at their website.

December Drive:

Song #2, from Sophia Cacciola and Michael J. Epstein, two of the hardest working musicians in Boston.  The charity they wish to highlight for you is Oceana, who work to protect the oceans and the wildlife that call the sea home.  You can find out more about them at their website, where you can actually adopt a sea turtle for the holidays!

December (Under the Covers):

First up, asking you to please take a look at Zumix, a non-profit whose mission is to help bring music and the arts to under-privileged kids in East-Boston, is Walter Sickert & the Army of Broken Toys.  You can find out more about Zumix at their website.

Hole in the North Pole:

Here are the lyrics so you can sing along! (Imagine a little bouncy ball!)

    Hole In The North Pole

by Walter Sickert & the ARmy of BRoken TOys

Old man Frosty got way too toasty, now he can never go home

Mrs. Clause torn apart by Polar bear paws now she can never go home

THERE’S A HOLE IN THE NORTH POLE NOW WE CAN NEVER GO HOME!

THERE’S A HOLE IN THE NORTH POLE NOW WE CAN NEVER GO HOME!

Prancer and Dancer met with cancer now they can never go home

Donder and Blitzen are meat pies in the kitchen now they can never go home

THERE’S A HOLE IN THE BOAT AND NOW WE CAN NEVER GO HOME

THERE’S A HOLE IN THE NORTH POLE NOW WE CAN NEVER GO HOME

The clockwork elf shot himself, now he can never go home
Hanukkah Harry committed hari-kari now he can never shalom

THERE’S A HOLE IN THE NORTH POLE NOW WE CAN NEVER GO HOME!

THERE’S A HOLE IN THE NORTH POLE NOW WE CAN NEVER GO HOME!

THERE’S A HOLE IN THE NORTH POLE NOW WE CAN NEVER GO HOME!

THERE’S A HOLE IN THE NORTH POLE NOW WE CAN NEVER GO HOME!
