Sleepover Show #60: Marc Pinansky

Some of our readers who are not from the Boston area (and perhaps even some from Boston) may not be familiar with the music of Marc Pinansky. Pinansky is the singer and lead guitarist of Township aka The Family Township aka The Mighty Township. Township is one of the best Rock and Roll acts to come out of Massachusetts since Aerosmith. Winners of the 2007 WBCN Rock and Roll Rumble, there is nothing about Township that does not rule.
We were thrilled to meet up with the band’s charismatic and kind-eyed front man to hear some songs from his solo project. Marc is releasing an EP every month of this year. The songs on which are more folky and thoughtful than the driving rock and roll sound of Township.
On one of the first nice days of the summer, we caught up with Pinansky in a park in Brookline. Sitting in front of a small pond in the park, Marc performed The Softest Parts off of his February EP.
As the sun started to set, we continued trudging around the little park until we came across a small hillside. Below the hill, a little league game was just wrapping up. We thought it would be the perfect spot for Marc to perform As A Child off of the 2010 EP of the same name.
During the performance of As A Child, a young girl, presumably a sibling of one of the ballplayers, became enamored with Pinansky’s playing and followed us around, albeit at a distance, for the rest of the shoot.
Last, Marc treated us to a bit of a lighter tune, Tears In My Beard, off of the April EP. Watching him play this song with the freshly vacated baseball field in the background was the perfect way for us to cap off our evening with Marc.
