We had been hoping to film Hallelujah the Hills for some time, [...]
On a Sunday afternoon, Sleepover Shows showed up at the practice space of Mean Creek, we all shook hands and discussed our plans for the shoot. Sometimes fate intervenes- a drummer next door decided it was time to unleash his inner fury and began pounding away as we were nearing our start time. Sunday was not the right day for Mean Creek and Sleepover Shows to shoot after all, we all scrambled to come up with alternate dates and times that we could meet up again. That day was Monday.
There have only been a handful of times when we have been invited to a musician’s home for a show. We parked on a hill, threw on the emergency brake, and climbed the stairs to the apartment. From inside we enjoyed the view, the company of the resident felines (as well as the band), and the ambiance of the soft light and Iron Maiden poster that no practice space could rival. Chris Keene, Aurore Ounjian, Erik Wormwood, and Mikey Holland all settled in for their set, a coffee table was relocated for more space, and a few quarters were found as a result. The time was finally right.
Chris Keene belts out the lyrics of Say You Care in a powerful, sure voice. Aurore’s back up vocals, Erik’s bass, and Mikey’s drums build the song’s intensity, it is the perfect song to open this week’s show.
The songs performed by Mean Creek are all off of their EP, Hemophiliac. Next up, No One Has To Know.
Lastly, Sunlight, a video previously released for the Boston to Austin event earlier this year. This weekend they returned from a stint playing several shows with Buffalo Tom. We had the opportunity to see Mean Creek just a few weeks back at Paradise Rock Club, and from the balcony we watched as crowds eager to see Buffalo Tom were almost instantly swayed and then thrilled by their amazing performance. We hope that you enjoy Mean Creek’s show and feel free to check out their Band Camp page in order to purchase their EP, Hemophiliac.
And, our original trailer for the show:
