Sleepover Show #77: Ra Ra Riot

This week we present another show from a trailer and another Guster connection. The last time we filmed inside a band’s trailer, it was at the 2010 Life is Good Festival. At a loss for quiet space, we took OK Go into Guster’s trailer on site. We almost made it through the three-song set before they arrived, at which point we respectfully vacated their territory. A year or so later, we travelled down to Newport to capture a few songs from Ra Ra Riot who were opening for, you guessed it, Guster. As the sun set over Newport, we made our say through the audience while Ra Ra Riot finished up their set. We met up with the band right as Guster started to play, and jammed all 8 of us into their trailer for some close-quarters music.
Conveniently, the songs off their latest release, The Orchard, sounded quite nice in the confined space. Arranged like a chamber group all around us, they played two songs for us, Shadowcasting and Too Dramatic. Wes Miles’ vocals shine through the wave of music bouncing around the tiny aluminum box. Smiling and laughing as they played the songs, Ra Ra Riot were clearly having a good time with each other. We hope we captured some of that joy, and we hope that you enjoy the videos!
Ra Ra Riot will be here in Boston at the Paradise in just a few days; you should head out to see their energetic live show.
First up, Shadowcasting:
